Winter Contemporary Guitar Workshop Starting Soon
On Monday nights this winter, local artist Mike Tribble will offer his Contemporary Guitar Workshop to participants at Purdue Extension’s Learning Network. For $99 for the 6-week, all-inclusive workshop, Tribble provides a quality, steel-string guitar with gig bag for each student to use (along with all the music, accessories, and study material each student needs) and personalized instruction. Students will meet every Monday, Jan. 19-Feb. 23, 2009, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. The workshop Tribble designed is built around learning all the first-position chords, their context, and their relationship to one another. “Many people that start off playing guitar learn to play a few songs, but they don’t have any clue of the context of what they’re playing,” says Tribble. “Understanding how to use these first-position chords opens up the whole wide world of music to them.”
