Learning to Lead
Learning to Lead, Clinton County is a program of the Learning Network and is a youth leadership initiative for high school sophomores in our county. The mission of Learning to Lead is to identify young leaders from diverse backgrounds who will develop leadership skills and civic responsibility in community challenges, therefore empowering youth to serve as a resource in Clinton County. While learning to lead, youth will be encouraged to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities.
The primary purpose of Learning to Lead, Clinton County is to develop leadership, foster civic awareness, promote responsible volunteerism, and encourage post-secondary educational aspirations among county youth.
The program components consist of an opening and closing retreat and day-long workshops and field trips, focusing on:
• Local Government
• Economic Development
• Cultural Exchange
• Post-Secondary Education Awareness
• Agriculture and Business
Students apply and are accepted based on recommendations from their school principals, counselors and community youth organizations. Six students each from Rossville H.S., Clinton Central H.S.and Clinton Prairie H.S. and twelve students from Frankfort H.S. are chosen to participate. Students are excused from regular classes at their respective schools in order to attend program days.
